This position provides leadership for the college's public and media relations efforts, develops brand-marketing standards, and may serve as the key spokesperson for the college at the direction of the Vice President, Community & College Relations (VPCCR). The Executive Director collaborates with and supports all areas of the college, including the President, the Board of Trustees, the Community & College Relations division, all credit transfer and career programs, continuing education, student services, the Aims Foundation, information technology, and administrative services. The Executive Director will be responsible for tracking marketing return on investment and meeting or exceeding community expectations. This position will implement emergency notifications at the direction of the VPCCR and acts as backup as needed. Essential Duties: 1. Select, direct, supervise, collaborate and motivate staff to achieve optimum performance; evaluate this performance. 2. Provide leadership to college-wide marketing committee for developing, planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating college-wide marketing programs designed to build enrollment, meet student needs and ensure student success. 3. Provide counsel and contribute a marketing and public relations perspective to deliberations conducted by college personnel. 4. Provide leadership and direction to Website development and printing requirements. 5. Provide coordination and strategic planning for a comprehensive college-wide marketing and communications program by designing, developing, administering and evaluating long range, short term and day-to-day programs to market, interpret, and communicate the college's mission, goals and activities to internal and external audience. 6. Coordinate communication and mass media events and campaigns, media relations and oversight of recruiting promotions, creation and production of collateral information, including: 7. Maintain knowledge of guidelines and standards in the rapidly evolving fields of electronic video, social media and Web communications to portray Aims as a leader in the application and use of these mediums. 8. Assure effective planning and production of a full line of high quality recruiting and image building print materials, based on an ongoing publications strategy; create and oversee an annual plan designed to reach target internal and external audiences with appropriate college message. Plans and coordinates the development and production of all college publications. 9. Collaborate with the student recruitment program; assist with developing appropriate strategies to target select publics the college can best serve and determine additional venues to broaden the scope of outreach efforts. 10. Direct effective dissemination of information to employees to ensure awareness of pertinent information. 11. Assure effective planning and execution of a comprehensive, pro-active program of publicity and media relations, reflecting college priorities and understanding broadcast and print media needs. 12. Functional Attributes of Job Duty Minimum Qualifications 1. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. 2. Baccalaureate degree in journalism, public relations, advertising or directly related field. 3. Plus six(6) years progressive leadership experience in educational or business marketing, communications or public relations, publications, writing, editing, media relations, social media, graphic design, web content and/or advertising.
